LTFN participated in the 2019 SEV Industrial Conference that took place on 19 December 2019 in Athens. The moto of the event was “Industry 4.0 A growth opportunity Greece should not miss”. In this conference new technologies, business models and entrepreneurial norms across Europe were presented. Additionally, the need for the digital transformation of Greek industries in order to improve competitiveness, employment, and social welfare were highlighted. Collaboration and mobility of all the available resources such as government, private sector, academia, R&D community is the main objective for the integration of the technological and digital advancements into production processes.

About the CORNET H2020 project

Main priority of the Horizon 2020 CORNET project is to establish an Open Innovation Environment (OIE) scheme to coordinate the current efforts in the triangle of manufacturing, modelling and experimentation of Organic/Large Area Electronic (OLAE), with the scope to achieve widespread adoption of relevant protocols and standards and faster market uptake of innovations.

LTFN will attend the event that focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Hubs for European Industry beyond 2020.

The digitalization of the European Industry aims to help companies, researchers and public authorities to develop the new technologies. As our society is moving forward, we have to deal with even more complicated and demanding challenges, introduce, embrace and apply all the state-of-the-art applications that have a great impact in today’s and tomorrow’s life. Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence are two of the hottest topics especially for the Industry of tomorrow. Industrial IoT improves efficiency, monitoring, and productivity! According to several types of research, the use of this technology in industrial settings could add $14.2tr. to the global economy of 2030!

Prof. S. Logothetidis Director of Nanotechnology Lab LTFN & President of HOPE-A Association attended the IoT Solutions World Congress, the largest IoT event in the world which held on 29-31 October in Barcelona in order to explore all the new trends, new ideas, solutions and get connected with industry stakeholders to establish new partnerships.

The Zero defect manufacturing workshop was held on 24 October in Brussels and brought together key stakeholders to shape the future landscape of European manufacturing.

During this workshop, Prof. S.Logothetidis Director of Nanotechnology Lab LTFN gave a presentation as the coordinator of the EU project Smartline. The project aims to create intelligent and zero-defect manufacturing processes, in order to avoid failures, to increase the reliability and safety of manufacturing systems and reach the zero-defect quality of products.

LTFN, together with OET, and HOPE-A participated in the Workshop on “Smart Bioelectronic and Wearable Systems” that took place on 22-23 October in Brussels. This two - day EC workshop presented topics covering smart systems across Key Digital technologies. Great emphasis was given on bio-electronics, bio-photonics, and flexible and wearable electronics. This event also highlighted the role of Bioelectronics and Flexible & Wearable Electronics in the context of the Digital R&I Agenda, such as Edge Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.
